Exciting Fundraising Update!

The BHPS received notification from Congressman Bergman's Office that the Federal Grant that the BHPS applied for was approved.  The Directors are currently working with Rural Development on the Bates Hall Project.  They are grateful to all who made this happen.

Due to the successful donation/membership drive held in November, BHPS has surpassed their goal of $300k due to two anonymous large donations.  The Directors recently changed the funding thermometer at the Hall to $312,666.

It is hoped that this grant and the BHPS fund balance will complete Phase I of the project.  However, it does not do away with fundraisers as they will still have Phase II which includes Legacy Park in 2027!

 The Annual Meeting of the Bates Hall Preservation Society will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Bates Township Hall in Iron River, Michigan.  BHPS Members as well as the public are welcome to attend this open meeting.  The agenda will include such items as welcome, introductions, 2026 fundraisers and community activities, budget and status of Bates Hall project. 

The BHPS wish to thank all of those who have been, and continue to be, supportive and wanting to be a part of the moving and restoration of the 1907 Bates Town Ship Hall, located at 3070 US Hwy. 2, Iron River, Michigan.

We collect returnable cans/bottles/plastic (those that you paid a MI deposit for) in the parking lot of the Bates Township Hall.    Your contributions add up to dollars for us.  Every little bit helps!!
